‘but they that are above have ends in everything’ – limited edition print and postcard – Paul Conneally 2011

This print and postcard came out of an ongoing cultural forage in North West Leicestershire starting with Wordsworth and moving on to the Jacobean playwright and poet, Francis Beaumont. Beaumont was from Grace Dieu, Thringstone, a place that Wordsworth loved, took his family to and wrote about.

The picture is of ex-miner, Mick Smith. Mick became a window cleaner when the Snibston colliery was closed down in the 1980s.

He cleaned my windows for years but since this picture was taken he has retired.

Mick also appears in a video piece I made reading part of a Wordsworth poem written at and about Grace Dieu.

I return to this work in 2014.
